Special Bokken Kata Seminar with John Messores Sensei

Messores Sensei is head instructor for Jionjuku Aikido Academy of Warrior Spirit and one of Saotome Shihan’s most senior instructors. Messores Sensei will conduct a seminar devoted to the bokken katas required for yudansha testing in ASU. Messores Sensei’s skill in the bokken katas come directly from his training with Saotome Shihan. This seminar is limited to 24 participants and is highly recommended for instructors, and students who are preparing for yudansha testing.

Four day Randori and Weapons Intensive with George Ledyard Sensei
October 8-11, 2010 (7 hours each day)
Intensive is limited to 20 students 3rd Kyu and above. Pre-registration is required. This is currently the only 4 day intensive offered by Ledyard Sensei in the Southeast.
The Aikido Eastside Randori and Weapons Intensives have been held every year for twenty years. In that time George Ledyard and the students of Aikido Eastside have developed a very systematic method for isolating the movement principles involved in handling multiple attackers as well taking an in depth look at the psychological components involved in Aikido which can hold one back from being able to optimize ones technique. The weapons training focuses on essential principles in the interaction between the two opponents / partners and connects the use of the weapons to the use of empty hand techniques in a way that should be of interest to any student of Aikido regardless of previous experience.
The standard Intensives are open to anyone of 3rd Kyu or over (students should have adequate ukemi skills and at least a basic familiarity with sword and staff). They are limited to only 14 - 20 students (depending on the venue) so maximum attention from the teacher can be expected. This training is especially useful for students preparing for yudansha testing and instructors who are responsible for helping students prepare.
